CARMELO

2021/22

This collection is dedicated to my late grandfather, hence the name 'Carmelo'. Unfortunately, he had passed away after losing his battle against skin cancer. 

The inspiration behind my collection stemmed from my grandpa's bright and joyful character. The striking block colours and the big voluminous dresses translate to his bubbly personality. 

The broken glass featured in some of the looks symbolizes the pain he was going through during his illness. As a family, this was a heartbreaking process for us as well so the broken glass also shows for me personally the hard time my family experienced. 

The inverted JAYs symbolize that life always has its ups and downs, as with my grandfather's life.
